Stoney
Wood
Friesians
Laura Beeman, Owner
Its been about 15 years since I purchased my first Friesian filly and created Stoney Wood Friesians. It has been a wonderful part of my life and I've met so many great friends through my love of these horses. I spent many years as a breeder here in Northern California, and wrote two books about Friesians. In 2005, I rode my Friesian gelding, Mentor, to my bronze medal in dressage.
Though I no longer breed Friesians, I still have one Friesian mare (Lugana) and her five year old filly (Rayna) as well as an Andalusian cross gelding (Grady). I just love the baroque breeds! I just recently purchased a dressage schoolmaster (Anthem) and have started training in hopes of showing him next year. The rest of my riding time is spent on the trails and I have developed a great appreciation for the excellent trail system in Northern California. I intend to explore as much of Northern California by horseback as I can.
In April, I welcomed to my ranch a Belgian mare names Bella. She came from a rescue situation and is making a remarkable recovery. Bella has decided she likes pulling he cart. So, it looks like I've been blessed with my own driving horse! She is so much fun and such a pleasure to watch her growing in strength ad energy each day.
To support my "horse habit", I work as an independent consultant for the State of California. I share my home with two playful Aussies. I spend my spare time at Lake Folsom, visiting Mexico and Tahoe, camping with friends and doing projects around the property.
