Stoney Wood Friesians

Laura Beeman, Owner

Its been about 12 years since I purchased my first Friesian filly and created Stoney Wood Friesians.  It has been a wonderful part of my life and I've met so many great friends through my love of these horses.  I spent many years as a breeder here in Northern California, and wrote two books about Friesians.  In 2005, I rode my Friesian gelding, Mentor, to my bronze medal in dressage.

Currently I have one Friesian mare and her three year old filly as well as an Andalusian cross gelding.  I just love the baroque breeds!  I chronicle our adventures on this website.  Most of my riding time is spent on the trails and I have developed a great appreciation for the excellent trail system in Northern California.  I intend to explore as much of Northern California by horseback as I can.

To support my "horse habit", I work as an independent consultant for the State of California.  I live on a small property in Loomis, which I share with two playful Aussies.  I spend my spare time boating at Lake Folsom, visiting Mexico,  camping with friends and doing projects around the property.

This year my mare, Lugana, is expecting a foal in June.  The baby has already been claimed by my friends Rebecca and Troy Lerwill from Payson, Utah.  I am looking forward to the big event as I never tire of watching the babies romp in the pasture.  It is well worth a few nights sleeping in the barn!

LAURA AND DAVE RIDE WITH THE PONY EXPRESS!

June 2008 will be the 148th re-ride of the pony express trail from Sacramento, CA

to St Joseph, MI.  Laura (on Grady) and Dave (on Rowdy) will be joining the other brave riders

covering a portion of the trail at a speed of 6-10 miles per hour (a brisk trot or canter) carrying the

famous "mochilla" filled with cross-country mail.  Check back for more ride adventures!
