Grady and I visit Empire Mines

Grady and I on trail at Cronen ranch welcoming spring!

Powerful, handsome, and incredibly uphill, I am truly blessed to have this gorgeous IALHA-registered Andalusian cross gelding for my partner.  Grady stands 16+ hands tall, and is eleven years old.  He came to Stoney Wood Friesians in August 2007.  Prior to his arrival here, he won in-hand classes for best movement at IALHA regional shows in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he was grand champion half Andalusian in hand.  In 2006 he made his debut in English pleasure and placed well.

I am been having the time of my life riding Grady out on the trails!  Grady and I are  members of the "Friday Trail Rides" club.  We are exploring new riding trails each week.  Above are pictures from Cronen Ranch and Empire Mines.  At left, we are playing in the Feather River.  I am actually quite far out and standing on a large underwater rock.  Fearless Grady climbed up on the rock with me!

Last summer, we attended poker rides at Skillman camp and Uncle Toms' cabin.    We covered lots of ground at Folsom Lake, Hidden Falls, Traylor Ranch and of course, Euer Valley!   We also participated in the 2008 and 2009 Pony Express re-rides.  We will be riding for the Pony Express again this year for the 150th anniversary re-enactment on June 7th!

Grady's original owner, Gary Epp,  told me "that horse will take you anywhere you have the guts to go".  He couldn't be more accurate!  Grady is the most incredible horse I've ever owned.  I enjoy every ride and every minute I spend with this horse.    There are so many adventures yet to come....
