Rayna is the last in a long line of Stoney Wood Friesian babies. I bred her to be my own dressage prospect. Rayna's sire is Jorrit of Proud Meadows. He is a famous dressage and exposition horse that was shown by Sabine Shut-Kery through Grand Prix and did all the fun tricks - rearing, bowing, laying down, etc. Her mother is our own star mare, Lugana, a FPVZ star mare who was awarded the title of US Reserve Champion Senior Mare in 2004. Lugana has also produced an approved breeding stallion son - Dakota.
Rayna is coming 5 years old and stands 16.2+ hands tall. As a three year old, Rayna completed three months of driving training with the master: Steve Haupt of Haupt's Valley Farm in Clarksburg. His new ranch is absolutely gorgeous! Rayna was started is his new covered arena and then progressed to driving on his 50 acres where he also grows alfalfa! Once she came home, Steve was kind enough to make the trip to Loomis so we could drive her in her own neighborhood. She really did great.
Last fall Rayna spent three months in Utah where she was introduced to dressage by German rider/trainer Rebecca Lerwill. I flew back to Utah to work with them and also rode with Rebecca in her carriage in the Payson Labor Day Parade!
Last summer Rayna began dressage training with Karmen Mills. She is proving to be a natural for dressage work - light on her feet, soft in the bridle and very willing to go forward! Karmen is preparing Rayna to begin her show career at training level this spring. We really think she is a wonderful combination of her sweet mother and athletic, talented father!
